Years ago, my sister-in-law sent me a link to Emily Lex’s watercolor art. Since then, I’ve loved having Emily’s minimalist watercolor prints around my home.
I’ve been drawn to watercolor, but intimidated by the amazing, award-winning artists in my family, both in the generation above me and in my kids. Meanwhile, the art gene skipped my generation, so my stick figures are difficult to even recognize as stick figures. But I’ve been exploring the way God as our creator creates with us. So I’m working on trying some new creative ways to focus on the process of creating rather than getting the end product perfect. Emily Lex just came out with some new watercolor classes and painting workbooks that helped me take the leap.
Watercolor Workbook
Her simplicity of style gave me the courage to try her watercolor classes. I found them just right for my beginner level–clear, simple, and step-by-step. She offers classes on simplified watercolor, watercolor for kids, simplified penmanship, painting workbooks, and scripture cards.
Watercolor Classes
So, if you’re looking for a simple, beginning class for you or your kids to try watercolor painting, I’m sharing the link to Emily’s website to find out more about Emily and her products: https://emilylex.com.

It was so fun! (I’ll work on taping down the paper at some point for the wrinkling issue.)
Emily’s New Book!
And Emily also has her first delightful children’s book releasing in October. It’s called, Twirl.
Twirl encourages young children to become exactly who God created them to be, so they can live freely and lightly for Him. I love Emily’s blog post from 2010 where she wrote about her idea behind this story: this blog post .
“The birds sang their songs and the bees buzzed and the sweet scent of wildflowers filled the air. And Audrey and her friends twirled with all their hearts, freely and lightly, just the way God made them.” https://www.amazon.com/Twirl-Loves-Created-Your-Special/dp/0736980393/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=twirl&qid=1620939433&s=books&sr=1-1
