I’m Not a Scaredy Cat by Max Lucado ~ New Books to Love

I used to hate the Halloween season because my sensitive young children would have nightmares for weeks from the ghoulish advertisements, billboards, and store displays. So, this is the perfect season for Max Lucado’s new children’s book. It’s available in both picture book and board book format.

Max shares insightful truths in fresh ways, and he helps children deal with fears with humor in his newest picture book for children. He balances the difficult task of writing about scary things for young children without using examples such as monsters that kids often fear and which might scare kids even more.

In this humorous book with fun illustrations, young kids can feel superior to the scaredy-cat who fears small things that don’t seem scary. If you have kids or grandkids who are timid, this book can help put some of their fears into perspective. The simple prayer repeated throughout the book gives children a tangible action to deal with their fears.

I wasn’t sure if kids could relate to being afraid of the sprinkles on donuts, but I think kids will relate to the concept that this cat has funny and unique fears, just like they do.

Recommended, particularly for children working through any fears.
